Hey guys, I seriously can’t believe the year is winding down and that I’m home for Christmas. I’ve been home for a couple of days now and I couldn’t be happier. Seeing my family and getting to relax with no commitments is everything I need now.
I’ve also really missed having the shopping options that being home brings and that you just don’t get in Maputo. Granted, shopping over the holidays is possibly the worst thing you could do but a few things I’d be willing to brave the holiday rush for and the Woolworths Styled by SA collection is one of them. I’ve spoken about these seasonal collaborations that Woolworths does with upcoming South African designers before. It’s really given consumers better access to upcoming SA designers which I think is so important.
This S/S 2018 collection has a few staple designers like Thebe Magugu and Rich Mnisi who have collaborated with Woolies in previous collections. Woolies has also collaborated with Mmuso Maxwell, Wanda Lephoto and The Watermelon Social club who are new designers to the Styled By SA curation. Besides my faves Thebe Magugu and Rich Mnisi, Mmuso Maxwell’s pieces have really stood out to me. A lot of Assymetrical silhouettes and dresses that would work for different occasions. My favorite pieces are a blush pink asymmetrical dress that has a pleat detail that is just so delicious. I also really love this red skirt that feels fresh and edgy and the floral halter dress above. If I could, I’d buy the whole collection because these designers are really creating collections that speaks to a more modern South African aesthetic that feels fresh and exciting.
